I think it would be a cool car and probably safe too. anyone know gas mileage or problems with the car in general? Does the front wheel drive give it decent gas mileage?

That'll be a very POOR first car....

It is NOT a safe car, although you might "feel" safe. It's large but it was made before the idea of "crumple zone" was in common use, and of course no air bags. The seat belt does not have the tentioner either.

Can you stand gas mileage in low teens? Problems? You are looking at a car that was made 33 years ago. It will be a nice car, but it will require maintenance, and if anything gives out, it won't be a surprise. Any machine, well engineered or otherwise, will suffer breakage after that many years. Can you afford to maintain it? What about rust? It was made before galvanizing dip was in use. It may look nice outside but could it be a "swiss cheese?"

Do you know the history of the vehicle? Do you think for 33 years, it remained accident free? (ones serious enough to be a concern)

If you insist on getting the car, please be sure to have an independent mechanic check it out before you sign anything. It will be the money well spent.

Apologize for the late post but just want to share my experience with eldorado. We all know that cadillac is one of the luxury cars ever created and we admired them so well. Im one of the drivers who would say positive things about the eldorado. It's not true that it had an issue way back then. When it comes to performance, i could no longer think the exhilirating feeling it give driving it. If you are going to purchase el dorado, you should consider the price of Cadillac partsfirst before you go on since they are quite rare and expensive.
